MY PHOTOGRAPHY STORY
Way back in 1980 not long after I had started work a workmate brought in his brand new Olympus SLR 35mm film camera to show us. Now I'm not going to lie, I was obsessed with this thing, it was beautiful. Up until this point I had been taking photos with a very basic Kodak Instamatic camera. I actually couldn't sleep thinking about this camera so I saved up for a while and bought myself a Pentax MG SLR and I was over the moon.
After a month or so and a lot of badly exposed and blurry photos I decided it was time to learn how to do this photography thing properly so I went on the hunt for a good book which I found and things picked up from that day on. I still have the camera the book and lots of old blurry photos.
Fast forward 43 years and I'm still taking photos, teaching photography and mentoring young photographers. I shoot nearly 100% digital these days but I still do enjoy shooting film from time to time.
I like to think of myself as a portrait photographer but I do enjoy a good land and seascape in good light and I love getting out under the stars at night as well.
If you see me around come up and say hello, I'm always up for chat about photography.
